Assalaam 'Alaikum.
I hope that you are in the best of health, by Allah. As muslims we often hear people quoting hadith, sometimes as a daleel/proof to strengthen their argument. Since we are not Muhaditheen (Hadith specialist) ourselves, it is very difficult to distinguish between a strong hadith, a weak or even a fabricated one. Sometimes out of innocence we ourselves quote a hadith that we have heard from someone else- it might be a sahih (strong), it might also be a dhaeef (weak).
Fortunately there were scholars in the past who made compilations of strong, sahih hadiths. They have analysed the content and the narrators over and over again and classify them accordingly.
There are 6 major Sunni Hadith Compilations - Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan An-Nasa'i, Sunan Abu Dawood, Jami al Tirmidhi, Sunan Ibn Majah.
May Allah guide us and show us the path to His Mercy. Ameen.
