Returns of Investment

Assalaam 'Alaikum.

In the world of finance, returns of investment is a term frequently used to describe the profitability of an investment. An investment which generates high returns of investment is said to be very efficient in generating profit, fully maximizing whatever assets the corporation/entity has.

Generally any returns of more than 6% per year is considered favourable, and obviously the more the better. Any returns more than 10% should raise suspicion, either it is too good to be true, or the nature of the investment is too risky to compensate the high returns. "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing." [2:261]
